Organized Computational Measurement to Design a High-Performance Muffler

Engine noise, as a source of sound pollution for humans and the environment, can be reduced by designing high-performance muffler. This study presents novel, organized design process that muffler KTM390 engine case study. The acoustic simulation analysis is performed in COMSOL software aerodynamic ANSYS Fluent. features considered this are overall length muffler, presence baffles related parameters (baffle distance, baffle hole diameter, offset), effects extended tubes. In order to evaluate performance an objective function has been defined measured on two frequency ranges, 75–300 Hz 300–1500 Hz. For evaluating that, amount backpressure analyzed achieve maximum 3.3 kilopascals selection appropriate includes comparing resulting transmission loss curves quantitative evaluation functions (for loss) backpressure. (i.e., tree diagram) leads increase efficiency mufflers example, 41.2% improvement backpressure).
